or Williams Cafeteria (during the cold nights)

All rehearsals are open rehearsals, anyone can come, anyone can play, that's the rule. We start out with a lesson or two, and then play games to build on those lessons and try to give you some tips and pointers and make some observations. Both kittens and non-kittens play. It's a great chance to get over the jitters and play with an audience!

Oh, still here? Fine then, here's the trick. There are no auditions. There are no real ways to "join". Here's the process:

• Come to the OPEN rehearsals Wednesday Nights at 10:30pm by Bradley Hall (Remember, Anyone can come, Anyone can play)
• We may invite you to come to a CLOSED rehearsals some time.
• If we see something in you that says you CAN do it, we'll ask you to be in a show.
• After two shows, the rest of the litter will decide whether you're in based on: your work ethic, your ability, your progress, your shoes.
• If it's unanimous, you're in! Simple as that.

Now, you may ask "But WHY Rob? Why's it that way?". Simple, an audition can't tell you about how you are on your toes. Improv needs toes (or fitting prosthesis). Over time we see how you are and how you fit and how you grow and how quick you are.

Why unanimity? Because we're a troupe. And we spend MANY hours together, we need to make sure everyone thinks you're a good fit. Just because you're NOT in right off the bat, doesn't mean you never will be. Sometimes we think you need just a little more time to gestate before you are birthed. I'll sit on you personally, err, maybe I'll find someone else to, if that's your preference. I'll be gentle though.

Tips

Yes, there are certainly things that you should think about. Here are some:

• A good attitude and dedication can make the difference between incredible ability.
• Listen to the lessons at rehearsals - we're not professionals, but these are based on our own studies and on our experiences. They may not be genius, but they're something to think about.
• ASK FOR HELP! I promise, we're all very approachable folks, just ask any kitten and we'll gladly spend some time with you and help you out as best we can.
• There are a million good books on improv out there to read, take a perusal or use this new fangled "internet". Here are a few sites to get you started: Improv Encyclopedia and the Improv Resource Center.
• That being said, the only real way to improve on improv (heh.) is to DO it. Any chance you get. Come to rehearsals, play with your friends, come to the workshops, do what you can. The more you do, the more that you'll be able to see what works.
• Nerves are good, they keep you on your toes. Not a single kitten is without nerves whenever they do a show. Don't let them stop you, that's the trick.
• Don't think. Go with your instinct.
• Umm, drink diet coke. It's better for you.
• Water's even better.
• Not that I drink it often.
• Okay, sometimes, cause I gotta.
• Meh.
